(Tampa, FL – May, 2023) – The Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., a historically African American fraternity, will hold its 86th Grand Chapter Konclave Meeting in the Tampa Bay area. As a way of giving back to the community and making history as the first National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) fraternity to host a global conference in Tampa, the fraternity is opening its member-only outdoor Family Outing event to the public.
Hosted by Nephew Tommy, the nationally syndicated and popular American comedian, actor, and producer, and Deanne King, Tampa Anchor/Reporter for NewsChannel 8, WFLA, the family-friendly event marks the Tampa Alumni Chapter’s partnerships with Hillsborough County, the City of Tampa, Moffitt Cancer Center, Genentech and Aetna in bringing the Kappa Konclave Family Outing on the Riverwalk to the Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park on Saturday, July 22, 2023, 12pm-5pm ET.
This outdoor event promises to be a day filled with fun activities for all ages. Families can enjoy the sunny Riverwalk and indulge in delicious meals from several locally owned food truck vendors while being entertained by international saxophonist BK Jackson, and the voice of the back-to-back Stanley Cup Champions, the Tampa Bay Lightning, Sonya Bryson-Kirksey. Additionally, attendees will be marveled by "The StompDown" Kappa Edition step and stroll showcase featuring teams from USF, UCF, FAMU and more. The audience is also in for a treat as Icon Preparatory Marching Band gives them a Taste of Tampa!
